hunt Overview & experience
This hunt is a fantastic opportunity to target one of Alaska’s most sought-after species: the Grizzly Bear. If taken seriously and executed in an educated and thoughtful manner, the trip can be an experience of a lifetime
The Alaskan Grizzly population is thriving at historic levels, allowing a unique bag limit of up to 2 bears per year in designated areas.
Grizzly bears are defined by living inland, and are hunted in southwest & southcentral Alaska. Bears are hunted while feeding on Salmon along streams, on open hillsides covered in cranberries and blueberries, and in the spring around dens.
We utilize float planes, wheel planes, boats, and rafts. Hunts are spot-and-stalk and require more patience and physical ability. This hunting method is typically used in big game hunting, where hunters use their eyes and binoculars to scan the environment for their target animal from a vantage point (spotting). Once the animal has been spotted, the hunter uses stealth and the natural terrain to get close enough to the animal for a successful shot (stalking). Spot-and-stalk hunting requires patience, knowledge of the animal’s habits and habitat, and skill in quietly moving through diverse terrains. It is the most common and effective strategy. Baited hunts can be arranged with advance notice for June slots.
sEASONS & availability
Our grizzly bear operations are split across distinct seasonal windows, each dictating a completely different tactical approach, terrain requirement, and hunting style in the backcountry.
Spring Expeditions
Spring hunts begin as grizzlies emerge from hibernation and start feeding across the mountains. We access remote country where hunters spend long days glassing open terrain before making careful spot-and-stalk approaches.
Fall Campaigns
Fall hunts focus on bears feeding aggressively before winter. Depending on conditions, you’ll hunt salmon streams or berry-covered hillsides, glassing from vantage points before making deliberate spot-and-stalk stalks through the Alaskan backcountry.

Here, we conduct a meticulous gear check, finalize your state paperwork, and ensure your locking tags are fully in order.
From the lodge, you are loaded into a light bush aircraft and flown 15 to 60 minutes deep into the backcountry to your targeted spike camp. Due to Alaska’s strict same-day airborne regulations, actual hunting operations will commence first thing the following morning.

Below you will find our definitive, field-tested Spring or Fall packing guide to ensure your gear stands up to the brutal Alaskan elements.
FAQS
Do I need to worry about bears?
No. Bears should be respected, but no client or employee has ever been injured or killed by a bear. Furthermore, no bear has ever needed to be shot in Defense of Life and Property (DLP). Unlike the bears in the American West, these bears are hunted and generally fear man. Enjoy seeing bears- you’re in one of the world’s last wildernesses.
What other animals can I shoot?
Black bears, wolves, and wolverines can all be shot in addition to bears. Tags are required for each of these, except wolf. DO NOT shoot caribou, as there currently is no non-resident season.
Do I need a water filter?
Bringing a water fi lter is a personal choice. I don’t use one, and out of the thousands of hunting and fishing clients who have drank water, only three have ever gotten sick. Drink from fast-moving water, not stagnant ponds and avoid beavers
What is the best advice for the hunt?
Be quiet! Bears hear very well and are shy animals. Whisper with your hunting partner(s) the entire hunt.
